George Dodington was a founding governor of the Bank of England, owned a ship, the Indiaman "Dodington", many important government posts, left his money to his nephew George Bubb Dodington. Member of Parliment from 1705-. Page 136, THE OLD CAUSE, has more information. He had Vanbrugh design and start building a palace, Eastbury, but did not live to see it finished.
